about

On the 21st July 1998 John Peel played 'Cuban Boy (Cuban Boys Go Boom)' for the first time. It was the first play anywhere of - at the time - the *only* Cuban Boys song in existence and spurred us on to greater, madder heights, culminating exactly one year later with an £800,000 EMI recording contract and at the end of 1999 a million selling top 5 hit single.

To commemorate this, the Cuban Boys have dug out two lost versions of that track. The first was recorded for the EMI album Eastwood at great expense, but never released. You can tell this is good because of all the live guitars that axeman B.L.Underwood played on it. The second was a remix done in the summer of 1998 to spark a bit more airplay after our initial success on Radio 1.
